The Stories We Tell

We all have a story we tell about ourselves.
⠀⠀
Life never works for me.
My life is so hard.
I’m so tired.
I’m not valuable.
I can’t do it.
I always fail.
I can never get ahead.
I don’t have any friends.
I’m not smart.
I overeat.
I’m scared.
I’m too old/young.
I’m shy.
I’m not athletic.

My story was “I’m not special”

I let that story define me for a long time.

Then my coach pointed out to me that my thought was a copout thought, a lazy thought.

It kept me stuck, and not taking the time to find those ways I AM special.
⠀⠀
What is the story you tell about yourself?
⠀⠀
That story feels really true. I know.

But guess what? It’s NOT.
⠀⠀
It’s just a thought.

If I was a person that wasn’t special, then I didn’t have to do anything special.  I could just safely stay in my cave, right?

If you are a person that overeats, then naturally you can’t constrain yourself, right?

If you are a person that doesn’t have any friends, then you get to stay home and not invite anyone anywhere.

If you are scared, you don’t have to try anything new or scary.

If you are a person who always fails, then you never have to try.

These are all FALSE, and they are all copout thoughts.

DON’T fall for them!

You can rewrite your story.
⠀⠀
It can be anything YOU want. Truly.

It can be,

Everyone is special, including ME and I’m going to find all the ways that, that is true.

I am a person who decides when and how much I eat.

I am a person that makes friends easily.

I am a person who moves forward through fear.

I can fail a thousand times, and I just keep going!

If that’s your story, then you get to go out and make life happen for you.  You are no longer limited by your story!

GO rewrite your story and ROCK your life…because THAT’S the kind of person, YOU are.

“You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way.” –Emma Kate Dawson
